John Longworth, Chairman of the Foundation for Independence regarding the UK-Japan trade agreement.
“Our free trade deal with Japan marks a major milestone in Britain’s post-Brexit journey. Once again remainers have been proved wrong. This deal has been signed in record time and will boost trade between our two countries by an estimated £15.2 billion.
“What’s more, this deal is actually better than the agreement we saw while being a member of the EU. It is tailored specifically to Britain’s economic needs and secures additional benefits for UK companies exporting to Japan by giving them a competitive advantage in a number of areas.
“We have already rolled over deals with significant trade partners, South Korea and Switzerland and I have no doubt this is the first of many deals the UK will negotiate that will be better than those we were subject to while in the EU.”
