The Prime Minister won the general election last year with a commanding majority on the promise that he would, “Get Brexit done.” But by no measure is our relationship with the EU finalised.
An applicable description of our present condition can be found in Sir Winston Churchill’s popular quote that: “This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”
The easy part of the negotiations, our departure, have been concluded. The real negotiations are just about to begin. The United Kingdom left the political institutions of the European Union on January 31, but we remain, for now, a member of the Single Market and the Customs Union.
